|Project Title||Architectural Terminal Design – Invited Competition|
|Airport||Riga International Airport|
|IATA / ICAO||RIX, EVRA|
In Cooperation with GMP Architects, a modern airport terminal foreseen for Air Baltic was designed and developed. The primary goals of this project was to organise and coordinate passenger flows efficiently as determined by the traffic forecast and the specifications of Air Baltic in a structure that will serve as a centrepiece of architecture and contemporary terminal design.
The expertise of two separate firms, ADM and GMP, was put together in the frame of a collaboration, in order to develop Riga Airport’s terminal design. The functional terminal design was conceived and developed by ADM in Vienna, while the building design and architectural conception was conducted by GMP Architects in Hamburg. The constant exchange of data and the close cooperation of consultants and architects led to a balanced output.
Apart from the requirements specified by Air Baltic, the airside processes and the architectural design were the bases for the PAX flow layout. The calculation of required equipment and the dimensioning of functional areas in accordance with variable passenger figures, were the ADM’s primary concern.
